LETTER OF INFORMATION

The 11th Muslim International Forum ‘Religion, Identity and Integration Facing the Transformation of Values’ is taking place on 14-16 December 2015 in London, UK.

The organizers of the Forum are the Secretariat of the Muslim International Forum, the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Al Mustafa International University (Iran) and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia).

The Forum anticipates the participation of the heads and representatives of international religious organizations, prominent scholars from research and educational institutions, representatives of governmental bodies and public organizations from European, Middle Eastern, North African, South-East Asian and North American countries.

Issues under consideration include:

• • Quranic humanism as the basis of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims in modern states;

  • comprehensive dialogue as an alternative for the politics of civilizational clash and confrontation;

  • protection of genuine traditional spiritual and moral values;

  • transformation of society’s value and normative systems as a result of globalization;

  • religious, spiritual and moral imperatives during the process of the diffusion of peoples’ national and cultural identities;

  • desecration of shrines and insulting of religious feelings as a form of modern information and ‘identity’ wars;

  • comprehension of Ummah’s present state and ways out of the identity crisis;

  • moral and ethical disorientation as a cause of modern Ummah’s intellectual crisis;

  • threats of terrorism (ISIS) and efforts to counter extremism;

  • problems of Muslims’ radicalization;

  • problems of refugees and protection of Muslims’ and non-Muslims’ rights;

  • reinforcement of interaction between different Islamic currents, etc.

Skill sharing of the Forum’s participants from different countries and the representatives of the UK Ummah is going to be an inalienable part of the event that shall focus on urgent humanitarian challenges. The Forum also pursues a dialogue building between British Islamic establishment and scholars and their counterparts from different countries, the discussion and outlining of new joint cultural, scientific and educational projects.

Several events shall be held within the Forum. The main part is to include papers’ presentation by their authors followed by a Q&A session. A special room is being allocated for the youth round table, which will offer a discussion platform for opinion exchange and debate with leading experts.

A presentation of the MIF participants’ books and video products shall be arranged in the framework of the Forum.

Working languages: English, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Farsi.

The materials on the outcomes of the Forum will be presented in the official publications of the Muslim International Forum: on the MIF website, in the quarterly international muslim journal ‘The Minaret of Islam’ and in the MIF’s miscellany.

To join the Forum as a participant with a paper, you should email an extended abstract of your paper as an MS Word file to us muslimforum@outlook.com until 10 December 2015.

Formatting requirements for the abstracts. Your MS Word file shall be entitled according to the author’s name (e.g., ‘smithj.doc’) and contain between 4000 and 5000 characters (including spaces). All references containing full bibliographical details must be footnoted and placed at the bottom of pages. All materials must be duly proofread and edited.
